Green Smoothies!

There is a green smoothie recipe i've been using a lot. Its very simple and really deliciously tasty! I just throw it all in my magic bullet and blend it up for a snack, breakfast, or a treat. It allows for lots of substitutions and the best part is it's only about 150 calories, chock full of nutrients!

Green Smoothie:
1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
1/2 banana (very ripe)
1 c. fresh green spinach
1/2 carrot (chopped)
1/2 c. frozen strawberries (or any fruit of your choice!)
2-3 ice cubes
1/2 c. water

Throw it all in the blender and mix it up. Yes, its green in color, but it's so good for you, no added sugar, and really yummy! Everyone who has taste-tested it loves it! Who needs Jamba?!

  1. Oh, ya! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout! ;-) Go, Mer! :D

  2. Merilee! I can not wait to try this out. I LOVE/live off of smoothies and this sounds good.

  3. Its good! If you like your smoothies a little more tropical, substitute the frozen strawberry for frozen pineapple/mango, and it gives it a really good zing!! :)

  4. always looking for good smoothie recipe to manipulate my kids with, since i have to be 007 to get vitamins down them! thanks sis :)

  5. Oh, and for Moms who want to try this for their littler kids, try throwing some blackberries in instead of/along with the strawberry. It covers up the green of the spinach and makes the smoothie more purple, they'll be more inclined to eat it!!

  6. Mer this looks so yummy! I'll have to try it since I'm obsessed with smoothies!

Nancy and I have a blog too! Check it out :)

  7. Merilee, yay we're blogger friends! :) I didn't know you were going into school for health and wellness, anyone I've know that has gone into a major similar to that has loved it! :) And you're starting this blog on the right foot with a green smoothie! Thanks for the recipe, and the tip to make it tropical...i love pineapple and mango. Can't wait for more posts from you! <3

  8. Mmm. This sounds really great and healthy!
