Green Smoothies!

There is a green smoothie recipe i've been using a lot. Its very simple and really deliciously tasty! I just throw it all in my magic bullet and blend it up for a snack, breakfast, or a treat. It allows for lots of substitutions and the best part is it's only about 150 calories, chock full of nutrients!

Green Smoothie:
1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
1/2 banana (very ripe)
1 c. fresh green spinach
1/2 carrot (chopped)
1/2 c. frozen strawberries (or any fruit of your choice!)
2-3 ice cubes
1/2 c. water

Throw it all in the blender and mix it up. Yes, its green in color, but it's so good for you, no added sugar, and really yummy! Everyone who has taste-tested it loves it! Who needs Jamba?!

  3. Its good! If you like your smoothies a little more tropical, substitute the frozen strawberry for frozen pineapple/mango, and it gives it a really good zing!! :)

  5. Oh, and for Moms who want to try this for their littler kids, try throwing some blackberries in instead of/along with the strawberry. It covers up the green of the spinach and makes the smoothie more purple, they'll be more inclined to eat it!!
